We source our gator skins from here in the US. Skins are sourced either from farms or are caught wild as part of the population control program in the Southwest. Large skins are all wild. Skins are then tanned in Florida and hand painted here in New York. Skins can be left thicker for applications like boot and bags or skived thin and tumbled to be made more supple for apparel. Grade 1 skins have very few or no holes and minimal defects in the prime cutting areas of the skin.
Skin size is determined by the centimeters across the widest part of the skin.
