Maryam Tannery is a world-wide famous tannery located in Tuscany, Italy. Leather crafters know that Maryam's shell cordovans are the highest quality on the market. Shell cordovan is an quine skin made from the flat fibrous muscle under the skin of the horse rump (also called breech). The leather takes it name from the city of Cordoba (in Spain) where it was first produced by the Visigoths in the 7th century.

This black shell cordovan is Grade 2 and has slight imperfections around the edges, but

It is one of the most difficult and expensive leather to make and only highly trained artisans in the tradition can bring the beauty of cordovan shells to life.
